Standing under a sky full of stars, planets and galaxies, it is hard not to wonder about our presence in this vast universe.

Going out to photograph these scenes has a habit of humbling me, not only because of the sheer beauty that is found in the night sky, but also due to the constant reminder that nature is in charge. Countless times I have almost had my camera blown off a cliff, gotten wet from a rogue wave or been soaked in a rain squall. I may have also experienced a near heart attack or two from wildlife sneaking up on me while taking photos.

Those are often the nights that put things in perspective for me, particularly around those daily annoyances or stresses that as humans we tend to experience every day, and result in a deep sense of gratitude that I have the opportunity to pause and be present with nature.

These images invite you to pause and simply admire the beauty that is free for all to witness.
